Mō Mātou (About)
At Gold Coast Māori Sports, we understand that for our tamariki (children) to reach their true potential, they need to maintain connections to their culture; to their identity; and to the land of their ancestors. With this in mind, we have created a club grounded in culture that utilises sports as a waka (vessel) for connection to identity. We actively engage the players in cultural activities in the hopes that they will go on their own journey of connecting to their culture. We have over 80 tamariki (children) ranging from 10 to 16 years of age; and over 40 rangatahi (youth and young adults) ranging from 17 to 21 years of age in our rōpū (group). Our Dedicated Team includes: - Kimi Brown - tour manager - leisha walker - accounts and social media - michelle mills - chairperson and sponsorship - matua dean harawira - cultural advisor tama - whaea patotahi worboys - cultural advisor kōtiro - tina hurunui - lead kaimahi - andrene keefe - sports masseur - lani needham-brown - medical support - neville nicol - social media (og546media) - summer (raumati) renolds - photography
